Bamfield

Sarita

One of the most magnificent, enchanted old-growth forests on Vancouver Island is a one-hour drive from Port Alberni. This one-kilometer, in-and-out trail is a little sketchy. A very steep rope section down to the pool below the falls could be a challenge for some. The Sarita River is in Huu-ay-aht Territory and has been a winter village for thousands of years.

Pachena Bay

Located next to the Huu-ay-aht First Nations lower Village Anacla. This 1200 m magical beach is sure to please the eyes. On one end of the beach is the trailhead for the world-renowned West Coast Trail. The other end of the beach is the pristine Pachena River, which flows to the village of Anacla. In the early 1700s, a tsunami completely wiped out the village of the Pachena Bay people, leaving no survivors.

Brady’s Beach

The only way from east to west Bamfield is by boat. After a short, five-minute water taxi ride and a 20 to 25-minute walk down West Bamfield, you will find yourself on one of the most beautiful beaches on Vancouver Island’s wild Pacific coast. Whether just walking in the sand, admiring the abundance of Sea life in the tidepools, climbing sea stacks, or just relaxing and enjoying the breathtaking views. there’s something for everyone here. The far end of the beach has a blowhole, and with the right tide and swell, it is quite a natural phenomenon. Brady’s Beach has a composting toilet and a tap for drinking water. West Bamfield itself is worth exploring. There's a very well-maintained boardwalk from one end to the other With lots of shops and friendly locals to see.
