Cheewhat Giant

Cheewhat Cedar
Located in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, the Cheewhat Lake Cedar is a must-see. This massive Western Red Cedar is the largest known tree of its kind in Canada and the second largest in the world. The trail is a short, just over 2 km hike through the most impressive cedar grove I have ever seen. This trail is not recommended for anybody with mobility issues as there is a bit of climbing involved and lots of roots and rocks on the trail.
Maywell Wickheim discovered the Cheewhat giant in 1988 in the Ditidaht territory southeast of Nitinat Lake. It is 182 feet tall and 20 feet in diameter; some estimate it is 2500 years old.
This tour is located Ditidaht territory and a 5$ donation per passenger will be made to the Ditidaht nation.
